Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and it always intrigues me how passionately for and against this day people can be! Sure, it’s an excuse for businesses to market “love” at you but I also think it is a good excuse to tell or show the people you care about just how much they mean to you. Sometimes we need prompting to do this, it’s not always something you think to do through out the year. You don’t have to spend a fortune, you don’t have to spend a cent!

Below are a few DIY ideas that you easily create. Cards are the best and who doesn’t love a good pun? And you don’t just have to give a gift/card to your partner, you can use this day to tell your friends and family how much they mean to you. Or why not leave or give a nice message to a stranger that will make them smile or feel nice about themselves. Everyone needs to be told they are special every once and a while!

On the weekend I baked a love heart shaped cake to take to my friends place. Baking is a cheap, pretty (and yum!) way to show some love.
